2025 Award Nomination Guidelines
The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) California Capital Chapter’s National Philanthropy Day Awards Celebration honors outstanding individuals, corporations, foundations, and organizations whose generosity and leadership have significantly impacted the California Capital Region. This event recognizes those who inspire change and elevate philanthropy in our community.
Who Can Submit Nominations?
Any individual or organization may submit a nomination—AFP membership is not required.
Multiple nominations may be submitted within any category.
Nominations will be considered in the year submitted.
Eligibility
The following individuals are ineligible to receive an award:
The current AFPCCC President, Immediate Past President, and National Philanthropy Day Committee Chair (excluding other committee members).
Previous honorees within the past seven years. See the full list of past honorees at www.afpccc.org.
What Will Be Included with the Nomination?
Nominee’s biography related to the award category.
Nominee’s financial impact.
Nominee’s community involvement.
Up to three letters of support (optional but highly recommended)
Additional supporting documents may be uploaded at the end of the form (optional).
Please be sure to clearly articulate why your candidate merits consideration for the category you selected. Most importantly, write from the heart. The most compelling nominations address, in measurable ways, how the nominees have directly impacted specific organizations and causes. Nominations are judged solely on the content provided.

Selection Process
The National Philanthropy Day Awards Selection Committee will review and score all nominations based on category criteria.
The committee may include community leaders, past honorees, former Philanthropy Day leadership, and regional AFP representatives.
Awards will only be presented if nominees meet the selection criteria.
All decisions of the Selection Committee are final.
Each honoree will also receive 2 complimentary tickets to the in-person event.

2025 Award Categories & Criteria
Outstanding Changemaker Award
This award honors an individual, couple, or family with a demonstrated commitment to philanthropy through exceptional generosity, leadership, or impact. The recipient has made significant financial contributions, championed fundraising efforts, or inspired others to engage in giving. Their influence has catalyzed meaningful change and encouraged others to take on leadership roles in philanthropy.
Outstanding Organization Award
This award is presented to a private foundation, not-for-profit organization or civic or professional association. Nominees must have demonstrated outstanding commitment to philanthropy through financial support, innovative problem solving, community involvement and encouragement and motivation of others to take a leadership role in philanthropy.
Outstanding Corporation Award
This award is presented to a for-profit corporation or their corporate foundation. Nominees must have demonstrated commitment to philanthropy through financial support, community involvement, and encouragement and motivation of others to take a leadership role in philanthropy.
Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy Award
This award is presented to an individual youth or college student (age 21 or under) who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to the community through the development of charitable programs, volunteering, and leadership in philanthropy.
Outstanding Fundraising Professional Award
This award is presented to an individual in the field of fundraising who practices his/her profession in an exemplary manner. Nominees must have been in the field for a minimum of five years and be a current member of AFP.
